ways to fix -- america

how to fix america. here is a list of things i would do to fix america
if i were emperor.

1. no goverment employment beyond 15 years. no goverment retirement.
this means all goverment employees; elected, civil servants, military,
police, teachers, ect. from the local level to the federal level.

2. bill of rights-all speech is protected except public hatemongering.

3. the war on drugs is over. production of methamphedine is a capital offence.

4. if we are going to have capital punishment it will be carried out
in the public arena. capital punishment will be expanded to include
corrupt politicions, goverment employees, business and church leaders.
death rows will be cleaned out one way or another.

5. houses, apartments, mobile homes etc. are now owned by there occupants
without morgage or lien.

6. bill of rights-americans may keep their guns. no more manufacture of
pistols. no public display of weapons. police will conceal their weapons.

7. voting- 14-16yo=1/2 vote; 16-18yo=3/4 vote.18-80= 1vote.80-82=1/2 vote.
82+older no vote. voting is manditory

8. all patents and copyrights expired. begin again with 5 years max.

9. in large businesses the pay range between the lowest and the highest
employees with the same years in is 8 times.
mutual funds and other managed funds will have no voting rights.

10. no public advertisement for tobacco, alcohol, weapons, church.

what do you think would fix america? :

Remember the Woody Allen film "Bananas"?

Revolutionary Leader Esposito:
From this day on, the official language of San Marcos will be Swedish. Silence! In addition to that, all citizens will be required to change their underwear every half-hour. Underwear will be worn on the outside so we can check. Furthermore, all children under 16 years old are now... 16 years old!

Fielding Mellish:
What's the Spanish word for straitjacket?

Get ride of the gun and voteing thing and it could work.

Heres a better idea: make me the leader and I'll straighten this country up.

Ok, good start.

Ehh. Just make all drugs legal and make people start being responsible for themselves. This also includes making parents be PARENTS for a change instead of relying on the government to do it for them.

Oooh, me likey the execution thing.

The trouble with the housing thing is what happens to the people who own the buildings, or who own the loan? They have to be paid for their services, after all, they cant just take a $150k - $millions hit on their businesses and lives. If you owned an apartment building, would you be happy about having the government come in and say that you have to give it away to your tenants? What if that building cost you $1,000,000? How happy are you about giving away a million dollars?

Its a good start, but the part about "Shall not be infringed" keeps getting in the way of me being fully behind your idea.

And the voting thing sucks. If you want to let underage kids vote, make them join the National Guard or something and send them to Boot first. See if voting is important to them enough to stick with it. Maybe they will get some maturity out of it too.

Again, you are messing royally with Contract Law. No go from me.

The .gov shouldnt have this much pull in the say of any private entity. JMHO.

Again, if someone has space to sell, and wants to cover it up with an advertisement, they should be allowed to as long as the local .gov says OK. It is not in the purview of the .gov to restrict that.

All in all, not a terrible start. However, if I were to post my platform and budget renditions MercedesShop, half the liberals here would have strokes.

Mandatory voting? If you like none of the candidates, not voting is your protest of them.
Thanks

Aww, C'mon Mike!! I'd love to hear the sound of every liberal reading it simultaneously exploding at the loss of their passive means of oppression.

How can the liberals be oppressing anybody? The entire government is run by the Republicans, top to bottom. Get a grip.

The biggest improvement we could make to this country is to go to proportional representation, as used in Britain. Our current winner-take all form of government leaves millions of people without a voice in our so-called "representative" democracy.

Fortunately right now, they can't. But I expect a democratic win in November. So next year I expect to see my tax breaks evaporate and the Dems to make another run at fuel taxes, internet taxes, trade tariffs, death taxes, dividend taxes, etc. They will do it in the name of "balancing the budget" but it will empower Congress (including all the porky Repos) to expand this or that program here and there.

I agree with your call for proportional representation. I'd love to kill the two majors.

Here we go...

1) Make all Government entitlement programs subject to review. They must apply for renewed funding every few years, and not all at the same time. Government must make status reports of these programs available on the Internet.

2) Voting. Make all ballots in English. All voters must pass a competancy test before voting. Voters would be required to have basic knowledge of civics and the Constitution.

3) Tax the proceeds payed to lawyers from lawsuits at %75.

4) Enforce impeachment laws against judges that rule using international or foriegn statutes in conflict with the US Constitution or established rulings.

5) Have open hearings on immigration quotas, then set and enforce them.

6) Enforce sedition laws.

I'm going to agree with Bot.

The first step SHOULD be:

kill the two majors.
That would go a looong way.

1) The GOA already does that. Problem is getting congress to do anything about it.

2) No argument from me

3) That would just make juries give out larger awards.

4) The Foriegn statutes thing is an urban legend. It's never happened. Its based on a comment made in a Supreme Court ruling on a foriegn statute, thats all it was, a comment.

5) The real problem with immigrants is employers, not immigrants. If there weren't any jobs for them, they wouldn't come here. We fill green buses with thousands of them everyday, but the laws against employing them is so full of loopholes you'll never see a single police car with a CEO in it. The business lobby, not the immigrants, is why millions of them are here.

6)Sedition laws are unconstitutional and haven't been enforced since 1802. Even then they caused riots. Seems the problem is the people who get to define what "sedition" is, seem to define it so it applies to whomever disagrees them.
