John Edwards
I know we have some forum members from North Carolina. I know Edwards claims to be the native son in both of the Carolina states, he was born in one and lived in the other. The loss of one Southern state could be the end of Bush. I was wondering if any of those who live in that area could share if they think this will change the dynamics in those states, or in any of the other Southern states. Also, feel free to bash Edwards, trial lawyers and democrats in general if you like. This is an equal opportunity thread.

NC is pretty evenly split if I remember right. I think it's a dem gov. one and one for senators, and about down the middle for reps. It went to Bush last year by a pretty good margin but I think they have lost a lot of manufacturing jobs.
I think the state is very much in play. and trial lawyers are evil mean nasty people, just ask my wife. |

Glad he chose someone who shows signs of life!
A Kerry/Gephardt ticket would be as exciting as watching a funeral. |

Does anyone actually have to stoop to the use of innuendo to taint Cheney with his ties to the Uber-creepy Haliburton? Just look at his policy positions, then read the headlines, it's all over the place.
Edwards --> Trial Lawyer = RNC wet dream |

...like you always remind us, the trial and possible conviction will come this November, the "actual evidence" of wartime profiteering is a matter of public record. All patriotic Merkins need to do is avail themselves.

Exactly my point. No need for actual evidence, trial, conviction, the dang thing is obvious to every patriotic 'murrican. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's plenty of evidence, but there is no chance for a trial, or even an investigation. The Republicans control the Congress, the executive, and the Supreme Court. No checks; no balances; no chance for justice for the people--unless they can throw the bastards out come November. But even then, of course, there's the chance that they could steal it. Again. Joe B. |

I saw both Edwards and Kerry in campaign appearances during the New Hampshire primary. I think if Dean had melted down a little sooner Edwards would have won. Edwards really, really appealed to the young mom crowd, while Kerry appeals to the older northern lib generation. That could be a one-two punch.
Edwards is also a scrapper. He didn't go from being white-trash poor to a zillionaire trial lawyer by marrying rich *****es. Definatly going to add some balance on the ticket. By the way, Bot, the Texas Demo party is going to surrender here in Texas, and we're all heading for LA to get the vote out and provide rides to LA voters on election day. Its now considered a swing state by the DNC. Let me know if you need a ride. Last edited by KirkVining; 07-06-2004 at 05:34 PM. |

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gee, my wife and I were just getting used to the idea of Edwards on the ticket, almost comfortable with it, and you had to go and say THAT! Joe B. |

So I see now that the Republicans are trotting out primary tape to attack Edwards. I thought it was an unwritten rule that you don't bring out what memebers of the opposing party said about each other in primary debates.
I saw Elizibeth Dole doing it this morning. I always thought she was classier than that. |
