I received an unsolicited email message with illegal and offensive content. How do I report the message? Here are the details:

Gee, that is some offensive email you got there. What are you touchy about, computer jargon or do IP addresses offend you?

Your getting virus junk off of somebody else's computer. It's infected someone's address book that you knew and probably been around the world three times before it spoofed you. It probably is just a temporary bother. You should report it to yahoo. Somewhere on their site they will have a link for reporting spurious email.

I left out the content because offensive is one thing and illegal is another. I'm not going to propagate their message. Not even the subject line.

The sender seems to have an excite account. For my edification, what is the domain associated with the account? Would that be excite.com? What is the IP associated with the account or the message?

You get a sense of how little I understand teh cyberworld

Ok. I get it now. The actual return addresses are useless, they are usually "spoofed" or faked -"excite.com" sounds like an inside joke if you got "porned". However, everything on the internet leaves a tell-tale trail of IP addresses, so those may come in handy if you have recieved something that is prosecutable, which would be kiddie porn, solicitation for the services of a prostitute, or solicitation to aid in the commission of any criminal act. All of those can be turned over to the FBI. They will hunt down kiddie porn like mad dogs, God bless 'em. If you got anything at all like that contact them right away - they have a worldwide reach on that one. On the other stuff, they'll take down your name and number and get back to you. Otherwise, adult pornography offered to other adults is legal, or any obscene text is also not criminal, which doesn't make sense, because kids can get it that way to.
