Manual to Auto transmission swap on 300 SEL

Hi
I've found the perfect 300 SEL in a barn find in Morocco but it's a bloody manual and i need it to be auto for the wife.

How hard is it to drop in an auto box? Do an members have any experience of this? Is there a special propshaft for the auto transmission.

What level of mechanic competence would you need to do the job, assuming you could lift the car up on jacks.

thanks for your help

best

If you can get the parts you need lined up it is an advanced shade tree mechanic level.

Better to sell off the super rare car and buy something she likes.

Go to wrecking yard and get the all the parts Transmission, flywheel, brake pedal drive shaft, shifter shifting rod once you have all parts remove all the parts I mentioned and replace them with the parts from the yard go to YouTube and look for a video on how to swap an automatic transmission and since you’re doing a conversion you need to swap the shifter and brake pedal

Get the driveshaft while at it. They are probably not the same length....front half only in all the benzes I am familiar with.

But seriously, don't ruin a rare and desireable stickshift car.....sell it off and get her one with a slush box.
