Cash for Dead 6 or 12 cyl ECU's and Connectors

Gentelmen

I am looking for a used scrap ECU for any model MB that has the same connector as shown in the picture. This particular unit is from a 1996 SL600, But I only care about the white connector on top. So an ECU with a bullet hole in it, is fine as long as the bullet missed the white connector on top.

1996, 1997 SL600 and S600 are known to have this computer there others possibly all 6, 8 and 12 cylinder models 1996 and later.

I am also looking for the engine wire harnes connectors that goes onto these. This is must be exactly as shown in the picture in that all pin holes must be present and of the same size, but they need not be filled with pins. If you replaced your engine wire harness you may have one of these.

If you know other computers besides the 96, 97 S/SL's that have this computer connector please let me know so I can broaden my junk yard search.

PM me if you can help

Thank You
John Roncallo

breakout box?

1. Looks like you’re trying to build a breakout box, you say this comes out of a 600? I have a 600SEL but don’t see this anywhere, but I did see this on my 95 C220 the main ECU.

2. Try Ebay also the junk yard.

3. Pay attention to the pin-outs when you get all the parts ready for the project. It’s not just easy as 1 to 1. Last thing you want to do is burn your ECU

No I'm actually trying to build essentially an extension cord since on this particulare car I will need to locate the computer box in the trunk. This is an M120 from a 1996 SL600 going int a 560SL. Im trying hard not to have to cut the engine harness. Otherwise I could use aircraft type connectors in the engine bay and reuse the engine connectors on the computers. Thats probably the best way, but I'm trying to work cautiously.

The problem with the junk yards are that they still think the computers are worth $300 to $650 even though they cant be put into another car due to DAS.

Mercedes sells the parts for the chassi side of the wire harness but not the engine side.

So far my cheapest solution is a breakout box wiring harness, which I did check on. I forgot the price but I remember it scared the S@#$% out of me.

Thanks

Have you tried an electronics supply store? I doubt that Mercedes made those plugs, they will have sourced them (or whoever built the boxes would have) you might find a brand name on the box that might help. Kinda like Volvo radios made by Alpine. Everybody is making those 6-pin electrical plugs - you might get lucky? Otherwise, cannon plugs might be the way to go.

I also noticed that there are 'tons' of companies on the web that rebuild ECUs - maybe they can sell you some junk or, presumably, they have test plugs to connect to all the terminals to make sure they work - where do they get their plugs?

And so, to bed.
