Where can I get those rubber bungs?

Dear All,

Does anyone have an idea where I can find new rubber bungs that fit all over the underside (sills + floor pan etc) of my W123 1981 300D?

Who makes them? Who sells them?

{So far I've come across three different sizes}

Thanking you in advance for any help or advice

They are all dealer items. Others may be able to source them for you, but they will upcharge what you'd pay from the dealer.

EDIT: Except for that jack hole plug. Those are cheap on ebay.

Thanks! I was afraid that that might be the case. (I need to find a new MB dealer - my local one is a miserable...)

If you look closely, they still have part numbers on them. Use those to order them from the dealer.

As a benefit to others who will rumage through this thread in the future, it might be good to post which part numbers belong to which part of the car (I too am looking to complete these things, but it isn't a crucial issue here in southern CA).

I've had a good look at the ones I've taken off so far. They are really gunged up with underseal (which has helped with their deterioration) and are pretty unreadable. So far I've got this => 110 967 0544 which is probably incorrect!

When I get the real numbers I'll post them here

I don't know what happened to the site, but this link used to be a page with all the plugs and their part numbers.

EDIT: I just found it by re-navigating the site but the link won't work. I attached screen snaps of the info.

Just go into the dealer and tell them you need some stoppers for you bungholes. Further research can be achieved based on my avatar...

Thanks Chad, I forgot about that. It would probably be easier to know which one went where. I can see a few ones I recognize, but not all of them.

Maybe when I get the chance, I can take pics of all the rubber grommets on my car and compare to this list.

I'm in the process of doing the underside of my 300D I'll do some shots when it stops raining!

Thanks for posting this link.

With this information I think the "middle" sized ones on the underside of the sills are part number 110 987 05 44 (number 23 on the second screen shot posted above from this quote). Apparently 10 are fitted to the each car. Here are some close up shots of the bung I mean.

Can't find this one though

This one isn't so easy to work out as I think there are only two on the car. So far I've found this size just in front of the rear wheel arches close to the jacking point on the sill. Still on the underside of the car though. All numbers are obliterated by underseal on my bungs.

They are essentially plugs for emergency drain holes.

In an ideal world they should stop muck / water / ming from getting into the hollow sections of the chassis. If the hollow sections get full of muck / water / ming then you have a way of getting it out. You can also check the internal structure of the chassis by removing these bungs and if necessary add in some nice cavity spray to stop the inevitable oxidisation...
