Almost a year...

since the great server crash of '05. Are the backups working better now?

Working great!

We didn't lose that much...only 4 weeks worth of data. That's about 1% of the total data on the Shop Forum.

But we did loose some pretty big threads. Car54's "300D Burnout" for example.

I guess that's not really a good example. It was probably pretty close to being closed anyway.

Saturday, 2 days ago, we lost a disk drive on our server. Drive 0 in our RAID array died. This is the exact same drive position that we lost last year. It's difficult to believe that this drive lasted less then a year.
This time we were fortunate. The rest of the drives in the RAID array maintained their integrity and we were able to replace the drive and rebuild the RAID without incident.

you're using western digitals aren't ya? That's what happens......... Seagate-Maxtor or Hitachi-GST is all I'll put in a machine. Never in 4 years of pc work replaced a dead Maxtor (except for a couple from smoker's machines, they don't count though....) , but have changed so many WD drives that i've lost count........
