How about...
Just an idea...
How about a tech tips page sorted by chassis to augment the forums. It might help eliminate some of the repeate subjects and allow members a database of reference material before they post for help. You could start it from the archived messages already in the shopforums. Again... Just an idea.

Wouldn't this make the forum highly complicated for people who just want things done simple?

I really don't think so... it would allow you to say... look up your chassis, find the system or problem you need information on and offer help immediately. I think it would help people faster. You wouldn't have to wait for someone to reply to your post and people wouldn't have to see the same question time and again. Plus the tips would be a valuable resource for authoritative information that is not in manuals or on CD's. I really do think it would be a good thing, not terribly complicated. I've seen this done on many web sites for my other older car and it's remarkably helpful!

...and the thread starters can be responsible for classifying the threads under the proper headings and such and only *if* that particular thread has anything useful in it
that way, everybody shares the burden...then we can all pitch in for those threads that are left whose authors are no longer active
