About 1 out of 10 times when I enter this web site, I am not recognized. As a result, the last time I entered is not listed and new messages are not identified. I do have cookies enabled. I do not have this problem with any other web sites and think there might be a problem some where with the MercedesShop.com software.
Any comments? |

Though Webmaster Bill will have to give you a more in depth answer I've noticed that sometimes the site does not remember my name/password/login but does tell/show me new messages. I've already tried editing/re-inputting my profile and nuking all cookies and starting over but that didn't fix either. Try editing your profile and seeing if that fixes it. Beyond that...I defer to the wisdom of the Webmaster. Thanks for letting us know...Lee |

I am 98.2347% sure that it is a cookie related problem.
Try the following: 1) Click on "preferences" in the upper right corner of this screen. 2) Click on "Click here to delete all cookies set by this forum!" and submit. 3) Click on "Profile", enter your userid and password and without changing anything click submit. 4) Click on "preferences" again making sure that "store user name" is set to yes. 5) Close your browser That should fix it. Let me know. ------------------ Bill Wood - Webmaster MercedesShop.com, LLC |

Bill:
I did all of the fixes you suggested and it worked fine for about a week. Tonight I wasn't recognized again when I entered the site. There must be something funny with this site because I don't have problems with any other ones that rely on "cookies" |

Hmmm...
It's tough to troubleshoot intermittent problems. Lee has complained of a similar issue. I'll try to see if I can fix his problem and then pass along the fix to you. ------------------ Bill Wood - Webmaster MercedesShop.com, LLC |

I still am having the problem of my prior visits not being recognized-roughly about 1 out of 10 times as previously mentioned. This site is the only that doesn't work correctly.
Could you design some sort of date and time override entry when we enter the site so it would be easier to identify the posts we haven't read? |

Something is over-riding your cookies. If the cookie is there, you will be recognized.
I doubt very seriously that I will be able to do the modification you requested. Sorry. ------------------ Bill Wood - Webmaster MercedesShop.com, LLC MB Autowerks Inc |

What browser are you using?
One possible cause that I have noticed, if your hard drive is full and you receive the Disk Cleanup utility, this will affect your next visit. The "Temporary Internet Files" (with Internet Explorer) will be wiped clean and ... Whalla, you no longer are recognized upon the next vist (or refresh). If you try this while on the site, upon refresh (after the utility is complete) your reminders are wiped out or reset. If this is your case, I can offer no solution except the knowledge that this is the cause. Just a thought, hope it helps. Ross |
