help for a newbie here?
recently acquired a 79' 240d i am a experienced mechanic but have never done a mercedes . i have a new found respect for the german car and i feel this car would be worth the time to make it shine again. I need info, education ! looking for shop manuals , specs, parts resources,opinions, tips, observations and will acept cracks about my sanity { might hear one that i havn't already heard about this project! } Links to online manuals would be great

Welcome to the Shop.
You'd probably be better served posting this in either the diesel forum or the tech forum. Regarding the manuals, you might still be able to get the MB manuals from MBUSA, 1-800-FOR-MERC. I was able to get paper manuals for my 4.5. You can also get the CD-Rom versions right here through PartsShop. With your 240D you'll have lots of online help from many of the members. Not much you won't be able to do.
