Smile 1996 E200 Performance

Hi all
I'm new to this forum. I plan to buy a 1996 W124 E200 that has been imported recond from Japan. The body/interior looks good and it has about 100K km on the clock. I know it has a multivalve engine but friends tell me that it is underpowered and advise me to go for the E220 instead. Wondering if the 200cc's make that great a difference in performance esp at low revs? Cheers and thanks for your views.

Owned a 1991 200E for a couple of years, and your friends are correct: a two-litre engine is just too small for such a big car, making the car sluggish and noisy because it has to be 'pushed' too hard to get moving. Only positive side is fuel economy. Go for at least a E220/-230 which have adequate power.

Good luck!
