Need advice on 190E rear window replacement
I am not too familiar with the 190, but wanted to help a friend with replacing the rear window that was broken out.
Got one at a junkyard, in perfect shape. Do I need to buy a new seal? Any other suggestions?

Bryan,
I have it done by certified glass installer in my 300E for $75 (Removed old one, and install the new one) You will need to take the rear deck, to get access to the lower section of the glass. Also, I would replace all the seals... -Sam

Thanks Sam!
I am a bit hesitant to tackle it, I thought it would be best to start with a new seal. It helps to know what others have paid.
Thanks again! Bryan |

I did it without the new seal and it was a ***** to do. You need to take the metal inserts off the outside, then take the seal out. Also removal of rear deck cover and side panels is a must to access the whole inside part of the seal to put it back in. A new seal with a pull string in it would have made this job take less than an hour in my case instead of 6 frustrating hours. Once seal is around new glass you need to put the metal strips in before putting it in the car. This makes the seal stay put and keeps everything tight once installed. I tried putting them on after the fact only to realize I needed to take the window back out to insert them. Using a hook tool would have helped on getting the seal in properly and easily. Instead I used a large flat blade screw driver and a ton of patience to complete the operation. Very frustrating and wish I would have got a new seal!
