Thumbs up Found an "indie"...anyone else happy with theirs?

The 'ole W124 has been running poorly for awhile, and recently started making some strange sounds.

Decided to garage it as I haven't had an ounce of time to work on it.

Found a number to an MB mechanic given to me by a paint shop owner who was doing a body-off paint shoot on a W124...got the number three years ago.

Met the guy and left him the vehicle. Told him I wanted the engine brought back to its former glory and to fix anything he saw needing replacement.

Turned out the ailing gal only needed a thorough tuneup! He did the plugs, changed the engine and tranny oil, replace the air and fuel filter and threw on a new belt. He also replaced a few broken and missing parts, and did the whole thing to the tune of $650!

Car runs like a champ now, and all engine problems have disappeared!

He has a full plate at his shop, so I've rescheduled to bring it back for cosmetic repairs...including headliner replacement!

If this keeps up, I just might be able to actually focus on enhancements for the W124 instead of just barely keeping it running!

Love my new indie!!!

Yes, since you are happy with him, I'm quite sure that he wouldn't mind you sharing his name and location. We won't tell anyone else.

I'm glad you got her back on the road. That car is way too nice to be sitting in the garage.

Have a great day,

Sorry folks...didn't get on board yesterday.

His name is Don and he runs a shop out of his house known as Mercedes Haus. 817-498-0075.

Keeps the cars behind a huge iron gate and only retains the ones he can work on so as not to have a huge backlog and alert the neighbors.

He does what is essential and what is asked for...doesn't throw parts at problems!

Is Dons last name Schweikart? There used to be, or still is, a Mercedes Haus Schweikart off of Industrial Boulevard in an old WWII vintage industrial area.

Herr Schweikart is a German gentleman and all of my dealings with him have been quite satisfactory.

He had a large facility for a one man shop and I would expect that it is, or was, difficult to make overhead for such a large facility with a one man shop. I can see where he could work out of a smaller area quite effectively since he apparantly has a very large following.

Thanks for the info,
