leaking steering damper on a c class merc-1997

the steering damper on the c class merc 1997 model is leaking.

what symptoms would my car show because of a faulty steering damper?

shimmy in the steering wheel


They aren't expensive - I'd get it replaced.

i get the shimmy in the steeriing wheel while braking

That might be it


but usually shimmy during braking is warped rotors - the dampner will most certainly make it worse if it's bad.
