MB Green or Brown grease???
Hey All
I just replaced my front wheel bearings and packed them with the green disc-break wheel bearing grease that MB sells. After I was finished, I noticed that the paper MB manual says to use the brown grease to a year breakpoint that comes right after mine (87 300E). So is there really a difference? Do I NEED to get that grease out and re-pack with brown? (I know it says that you cannot mix the two) Normally I would have just used any high temp disc brake wheel bearing grease, but I wanted to do it the MB way. |

I live in a small city with no dealer, so I called the nearest dealer 2 hours away to ask what kind of WB grease would be the best to use for my 85 380SE. Quote: "Any good quality synthetic grease designed for wheel bearings" should be fine. For what it's worth, that's what I was told.

Agree, and when repacking wheel bearings make sure ALL the old grease is removed including the interior of the hub, just in case there is some incompatibility between old an new.
