Unhappy 76 Euro 280SE won't run long

Any and all help welcome. I own a Euro 1976 W116 280SE with M110 engine. This car was one of the last with D-jetronic fuel injection similar to 450's between 73-75 in the US. The problem is, I cannot keep it running more than five minutes after initial start up. Then engine begins to break down once temp get to the 80C mark. Once it breaks down and is warm, it'll restart for a few seconds but immediately begin sputtering and acting like its starving for fuel. Once it get cooled down again like an hour or so, it'll run for 5min., till it warms up, then it'll start sputtering again till it stalls out. I switched out the coil, changed the fuel filter, checked the fuel strainer screen in the tank and I'am at wits end. Thanks GeneMak1

You will most likely begin diagnosing this troubling issue by starting with the trigger points. In the bottom half of the distributor you will notice a set of breaker points, these are responsible for pulsing the injectors at the correct time. Begin by removing and checking to see if they are coated with oil. If they are, clean them with a dehydrating solvent (brake-clean..etc.) reinstall them and monitor the engine performance. You may also want to monitor the input/output voltage to these points while in operation. This is one of the oversights when diagnosing a D-Jetronic performance problem.
