Starting hot engine on 560sl

I've had an '87 560sl for about 1 yr. now.It got stored away last winter and I put about 500 miles on it this summer ( it now has 87000 miles on it). After the engine gets hot it is difficult to restart the car without pressing the accelerator while cranking the engine. It starts right up but I must give it gas. Once it cools off it starts up easily whithout giving it gas. Is this normal? It did not do this last year. Any advice would be apprecciated.

Sounds like your fuel accumulator is starting to go bad causing first signs of vapor lock. Lots of info on this here on the site.

jriewer, thanks for the advice about the fuel accumulator. Is the replacement procedure simlpy to remonve the hoses and wires from the bad accumulator and then place the new one in its place? Do I have to clamp off a hose or is there any other thing I should know about? This seems like a relatively inexpensive part and not too complicated of a job.As you could probably tell I'ne done very little work on cars. Help from anyone would be appreciated.
