My transmission on my 86 300e will flare( slow to change) between 3rd and 4th gears. I have read previous posts regarding this problem and remember one of the possible cures was to change the 3-4 accumulator spring to a "stiffer" one. I have a few questions about this procedure:
1. Is this "stiffer spring" available through an MB dealer, if so, does any one know the part number?
2. Has anyone tried this in the past, and was it a success?

I'm trying to determine if I should try this route or drop some $$$ for a rebuilt transmission. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Ken
