For all you people who have been holding back on buying a meter with a duty cycle, Sears (in the US) has a great deal. I just bought a Sears product number 3482149, which is a craftsman multimeter with a duty cycle range for $11.97. They are clearing them out. You also get a free ac voltage detector. Normally the meter alone retails for $29.95. I don't know if it is a nation wide sale, I got mine in Niagara Fall NY. Comes with holster, spare fuses, test leads, owners manual, and the probe, it is a great deal!

I bought one awhile back on sale for $19.9? - part # 3482139 - has the duty cycle feature. I may head over to see what the difference between 3482139 and 3482149 is(other than price).

The meter has a nice digital readout, 4000 count LCD dislay, ac/dc to 10A, resistance to 40m ohhms, temperature to 1400F, capacitance to 200 microfarads, frequency to 10 Mhz, duty cycle, data hold, relative functions, auto power off, and auto ranging and manual range.

Then again maybe they just added 10 to the model number and $10 to the price..

It doesn't come with the temp probe. Where does one get a temp probe and how much are they?

Part number 03482149000 comes up "no items match" on the Sears web site.

Part number 03482139000 comes up as a meter with duty cycle function at the regular $29.95 price. It goes on sale sometimes for $19.95.

So what's the real deal?

I'd sure like to pick up the "139" meter for $11.97!

Went to one of my area Sears stores this afternoon. They had 3482139 for $29.95. The "49" part mentioned above was not available.

My understanding was that 3482149 is a discontinued item, that is why it was on sale. Why it was discontinued, I don't know. It was the last one at the Summit Park mall in NY.. Try phoning a store, to findout if they have one.
