Angry 85 500sel won't start..has been parked for 2 months

I am ready to have some repairs made to my car but when I tried to start it today it wouldn't turn over. It was empty gaswise when I parked it so I thought that maybe the gallon that I added just wasn't enough to get it going. But now it has over 1/4 tank and it still won't start. I wasn't having any problems with it starting before I parked it. Any ideas? I tried spraying some quick start in the carb but it still wouldn't turn over.

Battery??

Does the starter actually try to start the car, or does just click? Radio working? Lights on bright enough? If it's been sitting a while, might be your battery.

Yes, it's not the battery. Lights are bright, windows work etc. It churns but just won't turn over. These cars have a mind of their own so I was just hoping that there might be something I didn't know about since the gas tank was empty for so long. Thanks anyway....

Listen to make sure the fuel pump is running -- if not, fix or replace the relay, not gonna start with no fuel pressure...

However, if you ran it dry and left it sit, chances are there is no fuel in the fuel distributor and it won't start until there is.

One way to check is to sniff for fuel at the exhaust -- if you smell gas, the fuel system is fine.

Otherwise, you need to check for spark -- no spark, not run, although I don't see how letting it sit would cause problems with the ignition, unless perhaps the distributor cap was cracked and is now wet on the inside, shorting out the spark. If it won't fire on starting fluid or WD 40 sprayed down the intake (ari filter off), the ignition is bad.

Worth a look.

Peter

<< WD 40 sprayed down the intake >>

This trick does not work anymore..
WD has finally given up propane as the propellant ..
Too bad ... use to use it all the time , specially on cold two strokes..
They use co2 now...EPA , I guess..........
