260E Cooling System -> Freon

What kind of Freon is used in 1987 260E Cooling System?
Is possible to buy it (AutoZone, et) and refill system by myself? It should be some kind of kit for it?

Mine has R-12.

Many threads in the archives on recharging with R-12 vs. retrofitting with R-134a. For a $15 license, you can buy & use R-12 legally. That's what I plan on doing if I need to service the AC on my 260E.

Coolly,
