My 97 E300D is constantly tossing up some error message, usually Check Engine/Engine Electronics that goes away after a few starts. MB tech says the error code has something to do with the traction control system and the only way to fix is to replace the diagnostic control module...and failure to do so could lead to unwanted interaction of braking and throttle due to the TCS thinking a tire is slipping.
But, today's problem got my attention even more and has happened a few times before. Today, I pulled up to a stop with my foot on the brake and turned the car off with the gear in Park. When I released the brake, the car rolled backwards approximately 2-3". When I restarted, every warning light began to sequence including "brake lining wear" "traction control system" "anti-lock braking" etc. etc. and of course, "check engine." After a few starts, these warnings go away but the ck engine light remains.
I think that is because I have a bad glow plug since the glow plug light stays on solid for about a minute after starting. Dealer says $600 to replace all six glow plugs.
Thanks in advance for any advice. BTW, the car has 105K miles and just had its major service and engine mounts replaced - what a big difference that made to the ride.
