ABS System wheel sensors

The "red" warning light for the ABS is "on" in my '85 500SEL (german version). The ABS is not working. I have replaced the Over Voltage Relay, and the light still comes on after the car moves a few feet.

Checking the sensors, I find that the one on the left front wheel reads some ohms resistance, but the one on the right front wheel reads zero ohms resistance, as if shorted out.

I have not had time to check the rear sensor, at it requires removing the back seat cushion.

Any suggestions on checks to run on the systems or sensors, or information on the value of the resistance that the sensors should read at the plug, or if it should read resistance at all would be appreciated.

Ben Gilbert
