Question Fog Light Indicator

The fog light indicator on my friends '93 300E wagon has stopped working. The lights work fine. How easy is it to replace the bulb?

The knob comes off with a VERY firm pull, and then the bulb is exposed.

No firm pull

If it is the typical light switch you will find a narrow slot in the bottom of the knob. Push in (up) with a narrow screw driver and the knob will slide off, you just might break something doing it the other way

on '93 e320 doesn't the orange light only come on when rear fog engaged?

newer models are different, front fog indicator on first pull.

2 pulls out on switch not 1.

edit -- knob does PULL off

I'll have to look at the C230, but on our 190E there is no slot on the knob. I've removed it by simply pulling on the knob. I looked very carefully for some sort of set screw, catch or other release.

How to replace fog light bulb in headlight=fog light switch?

It appears that you have to replace fog light bulb from rear. Removing knob, locknut and face plate still not getting to bulb. How do you get to rear ? Through loudspeaker grill (enough room?) Is there any trick to this? advice appreciated. Instrument panel removal only? Abe G
