Driver's Outside Mirror

1994 E320. My outside mirror is broken (I bought the car that way) and is being held together by plastic zip ties.

I bought a used mirror on Ebay. It is the correct mirror, but the color is white whereas mine is black.

I noticed that some of the mirrors come as a housing, without the back. Is it possible for me to remove the back from my old mirror and put it on the new one?

Also, there is a trim piece (moulding) around the mirror housing. Can this be changed also?

Anybody know how to take off the old parts? Also, does the mirror glass just pop off or is it glued?

Thanks,

Charles

Try tilting the mirror all the way down and see if there is a metal wire retaining clip on top. If so remove the clip and you should be able to pull out the mirror....then the mouting screws will be exposed to remove the barket, trim piece etc. Then you can replace the inners using parts from the mirror you bought and retain the old colored housing.
