Installed new AMM
My CEL light was on in my 97 C280, I checked the codes and got a P0170 = Fuel Trim Bank 1, cleared the codes and installed the new AMM. I can see differences in acceleration and shifting but when I really stepped on it I got a couple of "pops" after the 3rd time. CEL light came back on and engine was running rough. After turning car off for a while roghness went away but still get the "pops" when jumping on it. Could that be because the trim was on the high side and if so will it correct itself after a few cycles?

If you disconnected the battery to clear the codes, the fuel trim should have reset to base. If you just cleared them with an OBD reader, the trims may be set whacko from bogus feedback from the AMM. I too disconnected the battery to zero the ECU and with a bad AMM, and the car ran like crap for alomost a day. Did you get a new AMM or a 'used' AMM?

I only cleared the with the OBD reader. I installed a new AMM. I have disconnected the battery (as I type). After I connect it and drive it, I will post results.
