M103 head gasket R&R

I'm considering the purchase of a 92 300TE with what appears to be a blown head gasket (antifreeze in oil). The car has over 250K miles on it and would probably benefit from a top end (though it doesn't use any oil). I've done all the maint on my own 90 300TE until my kids bent the front end. So...the questions...is a head removal and installation an all day long project?...special tools?...tips?...I'm considering taking the head from my 90 300TE (a 983 eng, and use it on the 985 in the 92...will that work?) What do you think?
