alignment
my 1983 300d I have had it aligned two times and it has either not been done right or it does not hold because it seems to go to a neg camber and wears out the inside of the tires.after about 5000 to 8000 miles any help or ideas would be great thanks

Where did you get it done? Are they MB knowledgeable? Did they use the tool to lock the steering box and the spreader bar as per the factory procedures?

Next time you get an alignment see if you can get a before and after reading so that you can see what might be the trouble spot. Here is the readout of my alignment that I recently just had done to my Acura Legend. It took them 3 times to get it straight and my tires were wearing evenly. This readout is alignment attempt 2 on top and alignment 3 - the final result.

Verify that tie rods, drag link, idler arm bushings, control arm bushings, ball joints, and track rod bushings (called brake support bushings) are all it good order before attempting to align as if any are loose it will be impossible -- it can be set, but with loose parts, it won't stay.
It is also necessary to use a spreader bar on the front tires to load them apart at the front side or the toe will be incorrect. Camber not staying put is most likely worn out control arm bushings or dead ball joints, either upper or lower. Bad upper control arm bushings will also give you fits. Peter
