Teleaid - can it be disabled? and price
The lcd screen in the E320 shows 1 malfunction - that teleaid is not registered. I understand that the system is designed to show this.
If someone doesn't want to subscribe to that, can it be disabled by the dealer? Seemed expensive - $200+ per anum just for airbag deployment notification for emergency response, and ability to hit a button for roadside assistance with GPS locationn of vehicle. One call from cell phone will do the same. At least OnStar provides directions and directory assistance. Thoughts? Anyone been through this yet?

the dealer or any shop that has the merdesed stardiagnosis can remove the teleaid from the cars programmng, i believe it is in the EIS (electronic ignition switch) programming.

Not sure on the newer models, such as yours.. but when I had my '00 E320, the Teleaid didnt triger anything like what you're saying, guess newer ones r different.
I thought it was worth the money for the most part.... got restaurant locations when out of town, when in town I got what restaurants where open late or if I needed a reservation they would do it for me.... In my case, my ex g/f had a car jacking / micky mouse thing going on while in my car, and the Teleaid was activated , all conversatoin in the car recorded, tape forwarded to me afterwards of transcript, and the cops where able to track the car via teleaids gps.... In my case it paid off and would DIE for it to be available in myh 95

Good point, Yosshimura.
I'll see what the dealer says when I take it in.

TeleAid will indeed offer directions and so forth if you simply call them. They offer all the same services as OnStar.
If you don't want to use it, just ignore the message. I don't understand what the big deal is. Good luck, |

The "big deal" is that the message appears in the multifunction indicator screen, usually known as "the odometer". You can "page" through it to see the odometer or other info, or you can "acknowledge" that you've seen it, but in any event, when you first start the car you'll have to do this EVERY time, so it's a hassle to say the least. For people who don't want it, I can see the point in programming it out. Gilly
