Changing Shift Control Lights

I have a 88 420sel. The light whithin the shift control area on the center console is out . How does one change the bulb. Does the plate around the shift lever "pop" out, or does the entire console lift up, and if so, how is it attached.

Any help would be appreciated, it's tough to see what gear your in in the dark

Pull out the ash tray and remove the two screws at the back of the tray, remove ash tray.Lift up on the plastic change holder and remove.Push down and forward on the wood console with all the switches still attached, and you may have enough room to replace the bulb. The black shift locater snapes into the bottom holder.
