Transmission Disengages at high RPM

My '86 300 E has once again come up with some new problems. First of all, the gear doesn't shift pretty late at low gears and when it does it shifts at very high RPM. In fact, the RPM shoots up right before it shifts to a higher gear. In fact today morning it shot uto 5500 RPM on the 1st gear before shifting to the 2nd. Is this an indication that i need to change the transmission or would a transmission servicing do? I'm ready to order the Filter Kit from Shop Forum, just waiting for some response from you experts. Thanks.

Check that the kickdown switch under the accelerator pedal is not stuck. Disconnect the switch and see if there's an improvement.

I checked the kickdown swithch, that seems to be working fine. If i push it, it pops back up. DO you still want me to disconnect it and see if there's any improvement?

When the transmission in my 91 300SE did that, it was time for a rebuild. Sometime after the rebuild, it did it again but this time it was a stuck switch. I'll check everything I can to avoid a rebuild

Do a search on B2 piston.
