Replace those worn out sway bar bushings!

If you have an 80's W124, put new sway bar bushings in it!

I just replaced mine, what a difference! No more road rumble, no knocking or rattle on divider strips, it's almost as much of an improvement as putting new links on the rear!

I'd noticed that the bushings had a bit of space around them while working on other things, and sure enough they have been chewing on the swaybar -- all scratched up where the bushings sit as they were seriously wallowed out -- in fact, they fell off when I took the sway bar off! I had to drive the new frame bushings on!

Not a bad job if you have the car flat -- I had mine slightly cocked (halfway into the garage, I have a spare engine and a dead car in the way at the moment!), so I had to work at it a bit to get the bar back in. Take it out completely and drive the bushings on for the frame mounts, install the control arm bushings, then lift the ends up over the control arms and locate the control arm bushings to the mounts, then install the clamps with the nuts on a thread or two, then do the frame mounts.

I'll get another set for the TE next week and do it, should eliminate the annoying clunks from right front.

Lots of oil on the swaybar, be prepared!

Peter
