300E 1989 hard shift into 4th

I am considering moving from a 300sd to a 300e.
The car I am looking at has one problem. It's shift into 4th gear is harder than the typical MB shift. It shifts fine in the lower gears. It almost slams into 4th. I have had several older MB's over the past 20 years. I believe that there was an adjustment on a vacuum module on my 280se 4.5 but I am not familiar with the newer models. Could this be something serious? Maybe just a vacuum leak or some adjustment?
Thanks for your advise.
