Question 126 with water (alot) under drivers mat

I have a 89 300se and this weekend I was cleaning out the back seat and I noticed water on the floor, enough that the water was above the level of the carpet. Investigating further I found water under the front mat as well, just under the drivers side front and back.
Doing a forum search I found out about the drain holes and have checked them, they all seem ok but I dont know for sure yet, We have'nt had any rain since. The water is clean so I know it is coming from the outside. The rest of my question is that the blower fan had quit working 2 days before I noticed the water. No warning or noise just out of the blue. I just found out about the fuse outside the box and have not checked it yet. Is it possible that these things are connected or do you think just a coincidence. No one has ridden in the back seat for a couple months and with the rubber mats I have in the front that water could have been there since August.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

Jeff:

You're certain the water is not actually coolant?

Water is clean.

That was my worry at first, but it has no odor and did'nt leave a residue when I cleaned it up. So I am pretty sure it is from rain or snow.
I know this question has been posted a hundred times, but I can't find the external fuse to the blower motor, the slip in the fuse box says that there is one but I spent about a half hour looking for it last night and did'nt see anything that looks like what others have described and it rained last night and I think there is more water in the car.
I commute two hours and between no defrost and wet feet it was'nt a pleasant morning, at least not what i've been used to with this car.
Thanks.
Update
Well I found the fuse and it was right next to the fuse box, I had been looking around the inner fender. But still no blower so I guess I pull the motor out next.
