Question Electric window

My 1987 560 SEL driver side window is not operating. I believe it is the window switch, which is located in the center console. Does anyone knows how to replace the switch? do I have to remove the center console?

First try some Caig Deoxit into the gap between the rocker and casing of the switch. Spray, wiggle switch many times, repeat. If that doesn't do it, the console wood has to come off. Basically you remove the ashtray, remove the ashtray frame (2 screws), remove the panel bewteen the ashtray and console wood (if there are seat heater switches, I've never had to deal with that), then pull forward and up on the console wood. No need to remove the console wood completely.

Mine doesn't work either on my 1995 E320. Are you sure its the switch?
It was the window regulator on mine. Can you here any sounds when you operate the switch? (Either grinding or just a free-wheeling electric motor)
Window reg is a nasty job and fairly $$$. Do all of your switches in the console light up at night? I take the wooden console out of mine occasionally and take the switches apart to clean them as they become somewhat sticky and unresponsive after a while. The switches just pop out of the wood with two plastic tabs; then the black (lit) button part of the switch just pops off the switch with the two ends on either side of the switch. Pull the white part with the LED light out next; careful--there are two tiny springs and a ball bearing on the "feet" of the white part. You can pull the white part out upside down if you want. Then you see the contacts of the switch. You should be able to fix what's wrong with it. Good Luck

I took everything apart and connected the right window switch and it works fine.Later I tried to take the old switch apart but noticed that it was damaged internally. Well a new switch was $18.00.
