engine stalls

My son describes his 95 Nissan Altima's problem as follows:

"as i am running at a constant speed. the car sometimes indicates it
will stall with an involuntary (foot still on the accelerator)/abrupt
decrease in engine speed and struggle to regain its original rpm. If the
car shuts off i can usually start it up first try but sometimes it takes
a few attempts."

I intend to replace the fuel filter this weekend, and am open to all advice, but please don't suggest I push it off a cliff.

Mark

On a Benz, I would say the fuel pump relay is going bad, so check that. If it's hot while running, replace it.

I'm not familar enough with Japanese cars to say if this is typical or not, but it sure sounds like a bad fuel pump or relay.
