Question 2001 E320 4matic Diesel conversion

Has anyone attempted a Diesel conversion on an E320 4Matic particularly of the 2001 vintage? I am looking to see if it is possible to aquire and convert with the new CDI 6 cylinder engine. Thanks for any advice and information or suggestions.

One of the reasons they stoped putting the the 606 into the W210's in 99 is they redesigned the hood so the engine wouldn't fit anymore. MB engines are usually very expensive I bet a new CDI engine runs at least $20k from the dealer figure another $20k for the right electronics, new trans, custom driveshaft, custom front springs, custom radiator. Not to mention the resale value will go down.

It would be cheaper to buy a E320CDI. Maybe you can get them with AWD now?

Thanks

Thanks, I was curious since there appear to have been the CDI engines available in other countries prior to their debut here in America.
