01' C320 auto adjust seats Synchronize??? AHH

Ok I know it is simply just a luxury in the car, but it is literally making me insane that the auto adjust seat is not working in my car. The steering wheel automatically adjusts when i put the key in but the seat doesnt. I have tried unplugging the seat, plugging it back in, moving the seat to every direction all the way and holding it.. I have it set in the dash to automatically adjust. Is there anyone that knows how to synchronize the seat? Someone must have access to tech bulletins for mercedes!!

Run the adjustments to the extreme range of travel and hold switch for another 5 seconds or so. So you'd run for example the fore/aft switch all the way ahead and hold the seat switch in the forward position an extra 5 seconds, then run it all the way to the rear and hold the switch in the rear position, etc for all the adjustments. For the backrest, I recommend you do the full tilted (back) position with the seat moved fully ahead or the seat backrest hits the back seat.

OK say I move the seat all the way forward and hold for 5 seconds with the key in the ignition, then i take the key out, the seat moves back automatically to let me out, and when i put the key back in it adjusts automatically back again. Same goes for if I have the seat all the way back BUT, it will only move forward. The Auto adjust doesnt work in the middle of the track which is where i sit.

I think it has to do with how far back the seat is when you remove the key, and if the seat has been moved back from a set position.
If the seat is far enough back, the system won't do the easy exit feature, so you get out without the seat moving back. Then when you get back in, depending on the preset for that particular key, it will move forward to a preset position. Read the manual , there should be a section on the seat and also the key personalization issues.
If you still suspect it has to do with synchronizing the seat, you have to do both forward AND back to synchronize it, not just forward position.

OK, I am going to burn my seat motors out, I have tried every combination, tried doing a block shape, holding each point for 5+ seconds. tried doing combiinations of key in key out, key always in, key always out. I cant get it to work, it is literally going to make me insane! There has to be someone with a book on synchronizing the seats.

Exclamation Solution!

OK, let me back track a bit and explain. This summer my sunroof wouldnt open all the way, i would have to keep tapping the switch to inch it open, finally I had enough. I wanted to check the connection so i pulled down where the switch was and disconnected the switch and plugged it back in. then the sunroof worked, so i tried it each way and held it each way for a few seconds, its been fine since.

So I figured I would do the same thing when the seat got knocked out of Synch. So i pulled the three plugs out of the front of the seat and tried it over and over again, the stupid thing just would reset itself. But then i looked underneat in the back of the seat!!! There was 4 plugs there which i later determined to be the power plugs to the motors. I disconnected them and plugged them back in. What I think happens is when you unplug the motors, they forget where they are and need to be resynched. So i plugged them back in and did the full extent movements of the seat, holding the button a few seconds at each point. After the seat learned where it was, it remembered, and now the seat works great. Before I had unplugged the seat motors, they were remembering where they were at the wrong points, and there is no way to reset these points unless you disconnect the power to them. So Case Closed!!! Thanks for the input Gilly!

Sounds good. Remember what I said about the Easy Exit feature tho, if the seat is back too far, it won't move back any further, even tho you can actually use the switch and move it back a little more, it won't do it automatically.

My automatic seats don't remember sometines

I sympathize with you and the problems you're having with your seats. On my 2002 320 C the seat positions correcty about 75% of the time ... the other 25% it seems to take you on a wild ride before settling down in the WRONG POSITION..The dealer and the techs are clueless. What a joke.
