That's hilarious, usually it's the other way around.
I did mine the less-expensive way, which is great so long as your cable isn't all messed up (kinks would be the issue). Every failure I've heard about has been the slider breaking, this procedure replaces just the slider. I added to this thread at BW so I'm happy linking it here:
