Rear Window Defroster

94 S Class
My rear glass was replaced last summer and I now notice that the rear defrost takes alot longer to work than the old one. Is there a standard amount of time for it to defrost? Is there a ground and if yes where is it located?

Rear defroster

I just bought a 1987 300 SDL (see my sig). It has no defroster element on the rear window. Does anybody know how to remove a defroster element from the 1987 300 DT, intact (perhaps with a hot air gun)?
