anti-freeze leak
Hello all,
I am new here and I was hoping to get a little help. I have a 1990 300E with a straight six. I've noticed lately that I'm getting a small amount of anti-freeze on the driveway every day. Also the anti-freeze level goes down about a 500ML every week. I checked all the hoses and saw no leaks there. (the hoses are all new) I then check the radiator and found not sign of leaking. Then I took off the large splash pan under the engine between the tires and I found some anti-freeze there. So I looked up and around on the driver's side of the engine from under the car and found a very strange. I is a black hose, about 6mm. One end was hanging lose and when I touch it a small amount of anti-freeze came out. The end of the hose is about half along the long axis of the engine on the driver's side. I pulled on the hose and it did not come loose. So I tired to trace the hose to where it came from but it gets pretty crowded on that side, however the best I can tell it seem to go into or very near the back of the water pump. Can any one tell me what this hose is. Of course I realize anti-freeze could be dripping down on top of this hose from another place. Please respond, if you know what this hose is for have any other ideas. Thanks!! Nina |
