What is the recommended lubricant for the steel shaft of the wiper mechanism?

I've always used White Lithium grease, you know the white stuff you get in a can at your local AP store.

I like silicone stopcock grease. Can be obtained at scientific equipment outlets. Impervious to water and very stable over a wide range of temperature (read viscosity). Also, a little goes a long way.
