Alarming
On my '87 300TD, factory alarm. Seams that the alarm won't turn off from the drivers door since we had the Ice storm and single digit temps. I can still turn it off from the passenger side though.
I just figured that it could have gotten moisture in there and frose so it wouldn't make contact. But, I am unfimiliar with what makes it work in the door. Is there anything I can spray in there to loosen it up, or is something just broken? Any ideas???

I think the alarm is armed/disarmed by a microswitch connected to the key tumbler. For some reason, the key is not operating the switch.
Could be moisture, try a hair dryer to warm up the key/lock area? Park in a warm area? DON'T use WD-40, it's not lock friendly. Best Regards, Jim |
