creaking gas pedal

The gas pedal on my new 2 week old ML350 is creaking and squeaking, with depressing it. Sounds like it is coming from the pedal linkage under the dash, but I can't rule out it is coming from the unit under the hood on the drivers side near the firewall. Before I start going to the dealer, where should I lubricate, and if so what lubricant is best?

Why would you even consider trying to resolve the creaking problem on a 2 week old ML350. Go back to the dealer and let them address the problem and ask why they didn't correct the creaking in the pre-delivery inspection.

You are absolutley right... I called them and they said they would first lubricate the unit under the hood, and if that didn't work they would have to start replacing parts. So, I guess I try hearing where the squeaking is coming from, spray it, and if no good go back to the dealer. In all fairness to the preinspection check, the squeaking only started today, after two weeks. It was 8 degrees out in the morning so maybe something got very cold, but I have had MB's in the cold before and never had this problem.. I'll spray a little where the linkages are and see what happens.

I will share this with my fellow mechanics. (re:2005 ML 350)..........the squeak related to the pedal movement was from the spring under the hood that moves by the cable when you press the gas pedal. I took the ML to the dealer where they put some grease on the joint that the pedal moves under the dash. When I got home the squeak was still there. So with my son pressing the pedal I quickly found the spring was making the sound. As it expanded it scratched against the plastic hole the end was in. I just coated the spriing with heavy duty grease and the spring became quiet. So simple. Meanwhile the service rep. had told me this was very common problem and sometimes they have to replace the cable. It is just poorly designed...a rubber collar over the ends of the spring is all that it really needs.
