91 300E 3.0 rear pass window issue
Hello all,
Great to be in the forum. I recently bought a 1991 300E, 3.0, with 91,000 miles. It's in very good overall condition. Anyway, I recently had a passenger riding in the back and they went to roll down the window (power windows). It rolled down fine, but going back up, it stopped, with about 1 1/2" left to seal the space. Now, I've heard a few reasons why this is, but the motor works fine (it goes up and down though with the inability to close the final 1 1/2" or so)...it seems to be a problem with the metal cable that operates in the mechanism, or so I've been told. A fairly affluent Benz mechanic told me that the wire might have gotten tangled in the cable holding mechanism (ie. it wound over itself) thereby decreasing its overall length. Help! It's about to begin raining like no tomorrow here in California and I don't want my baby soaked!!! More questions to come, but this one's the priority. Thanks guys/gals.
