90 300se ABS sensor location?

hello,
does anyone know where the ABS speed sensors are located on a 90 300SE?
Does anyone know how to check them to see if they are good?
Thanks in advance
Dan

If similar to an 87 SDL

Dan,

I would guess they would be similar to my 87 if all the 126's are alike. One in each front wheel and one in the differential. The ones one the front wheels can be taken out with a simple jack up the wheel and turn it to the side of the car the wheel is on ( turn the wheel left to get at the left wheel, right to get at the right wheel). Follow the wire down to the backing plate. It is on the forward 1/2. I believe there is one metric allen bolt to remove it.

The one on the differential was on the passenger side, on the front 1/3 of the differential unit. Same allen bolt and it removed.

As to if it is good, that is my $149 question (per side) also. I removed and cleaned each one and cleaned the sensor teeth in the rotors. You can see the teeth through the sensor hole and I sprayed brake cleaner on the two front wheels. This helped reduce my number of false abs lightings by about 50%, but I am still getting them.

I measured the wiring on the two front sensors. Both appeared to be "opens" from a resistance point of view if I remember correctly. One connector (driver side) was next to the fuse box. The passenger side was in front of the battery or coolant tank I think.

Chuck

5mm allen heads gets the ones on the front wheels loose. Brake parts cleaner can be used to clean them.
