M.b. Parts
I have found that for used M.B. parts, POTOMAC GERMAN AUTO PARTS is the best...mbpartsonline.com They even guarantee their parts, every part is tested before selling, and they are very reasonably priced. Good luck! JEFF

Something Canadians SHould know
I want all Canadians to know something about buying parts online. I've been doing it for some time now. If you're not saving atleast 40 dollars, Don't even bother with it. I've been buying parts from http://www.*************** and they're prices are cheap, but do the math first.
I ordered a relay off them once for around $60US They charged me for shipping, a good amount considering i'm in canada also. Then it hit customs, since alot of mercedes parts are out sourced to other Euro companies like Bosch, Hella...on and on...you will be charged duty since their made in Europe and not North America. So I was charged $20CND dollars duty! 29.99 CND Brokerage fee! Then they added my total price, 60 US, 20US something Shipping, 20 CND, 29.99 Brokerage fee and added TAXES TO IT! So this little $60 US relay cost me after converstation and government B.S. around $170 bucks CDN. 9 Dollars less what Mercedes asked me for in Canada. Wasn't Worth it. --------- How to avoid it and get best deal! Buy your parts online, ship to American address as many sites provide free american shipping. Then drive across the boarder and meet old friends and family, swap parts, drive home, B.S. Avoided. Its not illeagal, as you are allowed to spend money to repair your car while visiting in the US. No Duty, no Gst, nothing! |

I have Canadian friends who have had orders sent to American friends, who then send the package via US Mail with a declared value declaration of $0. If the package turns up lost, unhappy campers will result, but for the last five or six years,

I too have been doing business with ********az. Was your shipping option by UPS by any chance? From an early experience on EBay, I absolutely will not accept shipping of anything by UPS to Canada. ********az does give you the option to use postal. The difference (for those that may not be aware of this) is in the brokerage process.
UPS within the U.S., and to some extent, within Canada, provides an inexpensive, fast, reliable service. I've had things delivered UPS right to my doorstep in no time flat from Toronto to New Brunswick, never a problem (on-line orders from Future Shop for example). I once had MB floormats delivered to a store near Ellsworth UPS from Chicago so I could pick them up on vacation. Great service. However, once that package crosses the border, they add a HUGE 'brokerage fee', like the $29.00 you quote, add all possible taxes and duty, if in the mood to be real pricks, and hold you to ransom at your door demanding payment in full, or the package goes back to sender! The US Postal system hands it over to Canada Post, they charge $5.00 'brokerage fee', and usually just tax. I've never paid duty on non-NAFTA goods, ever, so I suspect that was a real bad day (for you). I think because of volume, postal packages under $100.00 declared value will go through no fee, no taxes, 9/10 times. UPS packages are scrutinized very closely and assessed maximum charges regardless, because they make their money on this, big time. Oh yes, I agree that buying within Canada is the way to go, but has anyone found a good aftermarket source for MB parts on the internet in Canada, similar to this site or ********az?

What he said. UPS across the border is a terrible deal and isn't even any faster than parcel service. I get it shipped USPS (United States Postal Service) ground and it gets here about the same time for a fraction of the cost. My wish is that Mercedes Shop would offer this service.

Lordco is a rip off
Don't bother with Lordco for parts on the WestCost in Canada. I have a discount card and its funny how much they charge. A FRAM oil filter, list price, $35...my price with discount is $22.95. Sometimes I get lazy cuz of work and pay this price, rather then drive 30 minutes to the dealer. But the real Mercedes oil filter from the dealership is only, $12.50.
Jetta Cap and Rotor with Discount at Lordco(aftermarket): $55 From VW(oem): $15 Discount cards still don't make a dent. Becareful of Lordco prices, there's many more examples, but usually their deal is not the best deal on Euro stuff. |

I just bought from these guys, very good prices On importing parts, the idea is to send to a US postal outlet, and clear it through Canada customs yourself. The savings is huge!UPS and others are making a killing on brokerage fees

I've had good experience with BMV in Richmond, BC
BMV AUTO PARTS LTD. 12271 BRIDGEPORT CRESCENT, RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, V6V 1J4, CANADA. (604) 273 3636. They carry parts for BMW, M-B, and VW...I believe many of the independent shops get their parts from them...
