I have same problem on my car. It's a 1995 C280. High beams work fine when pushed forward, but do not work when pulled back to flash. Any possibilites besides replacing stalk? Thanks.

I had a problem like this once. I pulled out the steering wheel cleaned the contact points and bent them a little making sure that they make contact.

You can try removing the combo switch from the column and cleaning the contacts, but most of this assy is plastic and the pivot points do wear down. If you want to be free of future problems, bit the bullet and replace the switch. Try partshop, think it's about $175, but I could be wrong. These things do wear out, and if you are going to go to all the trouble of breaking down the top of the steering column, get it right the first time...unless, you like to take things apart...
