124 Door Handle Removal
I am having a fit trying to remove the front door handles from a 1987-300E and a 1990-300E. I even had on my reading glasses. Any help or ideas would be appreciated...Jim

If it's the exterior door handle, you need to remove the door panels, carefully remove the plastic shield, raise the window and you should be able to see the hardware needed to remove to get the handles off.

Need More Help
Jerry, Thank you for your reply....I have removed the regulator and motor and the vacuum door lock etc...Their is nothing left but the window in the up position and the door stop....I am parting out the car. I have removed all the bolt that I can see...I am just missing something...I just removed some door handles from a 115 and a 116...But these must be different...I also removed the rubber seal and nothing is hidden behind it...Is their something inside the door panel???? Jim

On my 95 w124 you remove the door handle by opening door, pulling out little black plastic plug which is on the door jamb area, and you will see an Allen-Key type screw. Unscrew it, and then work the door handle until it comes free.

Troverman is correct. No need to pull the inner panel. Not to put you down, but my 6 year old did this last year at age 5 (I showed him one and he did the next one). We were replacing the rubber gaskets. The fronts are a tad tricky, had to turn the lock with the key to get tumbler in position to get it out without force. Be CAREFUL of these little bits and wires in there. The alarm actuators are fragile and VERY expensive and the tumbler will not work without out them (even if the alarm is disabled). I damaged one and had to tie it in place with string.
