126 rear suspension

Clang-y/wobble-y/boom-y noise from the left rear wheel. I thought it was a busted sway bar link, but they are relatively new and still intact. Dealer told me it was the control arm bushing ( I think that is what its called) and that it costs thousands to fix and the bushing is not sold seperatley (entire assembly only). I find that hard to believe and want to know how I can fix this and how much it will cost to have done at an indy (seems beyond my limited abilties).

I would probably want to do both sides.

Also, if my terminology for that part is wrong, please correct.

Thanks.

Have you checked the upper strut bushings? Mine sounded like "ka-boom" over pot holes and rough roads. fixed the problem with $10 parts and the car rides like new.

I haven't checked anything myself yet.

What/where exactly are the upper strut bushings?

Thanks, Mike

here is my the previous post regarding the upper strut bushings. I am sure there are more threads out there regarding the same issue.

See the pic attached. There are 2 rubber bushing (top & bottom) at the top of the rear strut.

rear control arm bushings can in fact be purchased separately. for like $40 bucks plus install. before i became more self sufficient, i paid my indy $800 in labor to install them on both sides and new subframe bushings, which i would recommend also. everything has to come out anyway, might as well put in the subframe bushings since labor is a killer.
